SCALP THREADING
AGA affects up to 30% of men and 30% of women below the age of 30 years. There is a significant psycho-social impact associated with it. Multiple factors are involved in the pathogenesis of AGA, genes, DHT, inflammation, genes, signalling pathways, growth factors, activation of stem cells of the hair bulge and improving vascularity.
There is a growing demand among the patients to seek treatment, not only to prevent the hair loss but more so to regain new hair with density.
New treatment options, like Scalp Threading, PRP, CIT, GHK peptides that act on stem cells and signal pathways have great effect on hair regrowth and are supported by literature and clinical study.
WHAT IS SCALP THREADING ?
Scalp threading is a type of dermal needle therapy, and is defined as inserting thread into skin for the purpose of prolonged therapeutic stimulation. Threads are surgical sutures made from materials used in surgery to close wounds. There are three main types of threads currently available; polydioxanone (PDO), polylactic acid (PLA) and polycaprolactone (PCA).
HOW DO THREADS STIMULATE HAIR GROWTH ?
Threads enhance anagen induction in the hair follicles and cell proliferation in the hair bulbus which results hair growth and improvement of hair thickness. So threads actually activate the anagen phase of the hair growth cycle.
Threads moreover act on anagen development and maintenance of hair growth. Numerous growth factors and molecules are involved in the formation of the hair shaft. Threads also inhibit premature entering in the telogen phase.
HOW IS THE TREATMENT PERFORMED ?
After disinfecting the scalp, local anaesthetic is injected into the treatment area. Then follows, Insertion of the needles intradermally attempting to pass the thread through the maximum possible length per needle. Multiple needles are inserted and the distribution of the needles depends on the zone we are treating.
After the needle insertion and positioning of the thread, the needle is withdrawn leaving the thread in situ.
WHAT ARE THE EXPECTED RESULTS ?
After 3 months, all patients have appreciable degree of increase in hair counts, confirmed with investigator-evaluated improvement in Global Photograph Improvement (40%-75%; average of 57%) , trichoscopic hair count increment (48-93 HFU/cm2; average of 67HFU/cm2). Check our before-after results on….
